We are a local chapter of the Autism Society of America, the leading voice and resource of the entire Autism community in education, advocacy, services, research and support. We serve South Central and Southwestern Wisconsin including Dane, Columbia, Sauk, Richland, Crawford, Rock, Green, Iowa, Lafayette and Grant counties.
The Autism Society of Greater Madison was founded in 1969 to provide information and support to families affected by autism and the professionals who assist them. The services that we provide include:
- A quarterly newsletter with information on autism, local issues, meetings, upcoming conferences and workshops, and legislative issues
- Free parent and educator packets sent to anyone who requests them
- A resource directory with information on Madison area services, updated yearly
- A web site that includes our newsletters and resource directory, http://www.autismmadison.org
- A monthly parent support group meeting with free child care
- Several lectures with speakers on various autism topics, also with free child care
- An annual daylong workshop with speakers
- A monthly social group for teens and young adults on the autism spectrum
- Books on autism donated yearly to the South Central Library System to ensure access to recent information for parents and professionals in southern WI
