Volunteering
Notes about Recertification... Once Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Interns are certified, they need to serve at least 24 volunteer hours to be recertified each year, performed between Sept 1-Aug 31. The opportunites indicated with a "- 4 -" below count toward the 4 hour volunteer requirement to Dane County Extension. See the Events and Related Links pages for allowed CE opportunities.

Volunteers will work independently on an as-needed basis when you are available. All volunteers will be fully trained before starting work. Training is held regularly. Volunteers will be given a T-shirt to wear when gardening, gloves, tools and a safety vest. Volunteers must fill out an application and pass a background check. The only requirements are that you are dependable, friendly, 16 years of age or older, and able to work in sun and in a chaotic environment!
